The Filterfotograf® Reverse GND 1.2 (ND16) is a specialized graduated filter for ambitious landscape photographers who frequently work in extreme light situations—such as very intense sunrises or sunsets. With a density of 1.2 (equivalent to ND16), it reduces the light in the center of the image—directly at the horizon—by 4 f-stops , while gently phasing out the upper area and leaving the lower area completely clear.
This targeted reverse gradient ensures natural exposure in strong backlight conditions without burning out the sky or overly darkening the foreground. Ideal for open landscapes, bodies of water, or coastal subjects with direct sunlight at eye level.
Made from 2mm thick Ultra HD optical glass , the filter delivers outstanding image quality, maximum color fidelity, and high durability – designed for photographers seeking maximum control in changing conditions.
Reverse GND – For sunsets with a perfect gradient
With its reversed gradient edge, this Reverse GND filter is ideal for sunrise or sunset shots when the sun is directly on the horizon. Riko Best developed the ND gradient himself based on years of practical experience with optical filters and precisely tuned it for these special lighting situations. The result is a balanced, photographer-friendly gradient that reliably attenuates bright horizon areas without unnaturally affecting the sky or foreground.
Ultra HD glass – maximum optical quality
Thanks to the extremely clear, optical Ultra HD glass, the filter delivers outstanding image sharpness – even when used with high-resolution sensors and wide-angle lenses. The filter is completely color-neutral and guarantees the highest level of detail without being affected by glass defects or color casts.
AR+AF Nano-coating – high-tech for tough use
The filter is equipped with a state-of-the-art AR+AF nano coating :
- AR (Anti-Reflective) : reduces reflections and prevents unwanted light glare – especially in backlight or when the sun is low.
- AF (Anti-Fouling) : dirt and water repellent – protects the surface from oil, fingerprints, dust and moisture and makes cleaning much easier.
Scratch-resistant & durable – built for outdoors
