FILTERFOTOGRAF® LC‑PRO 100 Filter System – FAQ Frequently Asked Questions
What is the LC‑PRO 100 filter system?
The LC‑PRO 100 is a professional rectangular filter system for landscape, architectural, and long-exposure photography. It allows the use of up to three insertable filters (e.g., ND, GND) plus a rotatable, magnetic CPL filter. All this combines maximum image quality with fast handling and absolute control in difficult lighting conditions.
Who is the system intended for?
The LC-PRO 100 filter system is aimed at beginners who want to get started with professional filter photography, as well as ambitious amateur photographers and professional photographers who demand the highest image quality and maximum flexibility. The modular system allows the range of functions to be adapted to individual needs at any time – from simple applications to complex filter combinations in landscape and architectural photography.
How easy is it to change the filter?
The magnetic CPL is inserted in seconds and can be precisely aligned using a side adjustment dial – even when wearing gloves. Rectangular filters slide conveniently into the slide-in rails. The system enables lightning-fast filter changes without the need for complicated screwing.
Is there vignetting with the LC‑PRO 100 filter system?
The LC-PRO 100 filter system has been successfully tested on a wide variety of lenses, including the Canon RF 15-35mm , Canon RF 14-35mm , and many other wide-angle and standard lenses. Even on these extremely wide-angle full-frame lenses, the system works without any visible vignetting.
Choosing the right base ring is important for vignetting-free work:
- For example, if your lens has a 77mm filter thread (e.g. Canon RF14-35), the appropriate 77mm base adapter should be used.
- For maximum flexibility, however, we recommend using the largest base ring with an 82mm diameter . Using so-called one-step adapter rings, this can then be adjusted to smaller lens diameters such as 67mm, 72mm, or 77mm.
- Especially for full-format lenses with a focal length of 15mm or more , as well as on APS-C and MFT cameras ( full-format equivalent focal length) , the 82mm base ring with the corresponding step-up adapter is the best choice to ensure maximum flexibility on multiple lenses without vignetting.
Is the system light-tight for long exposures?
Yes, the LC‑PRO 100 filter system is completely light-tight. The precise fit and sturdy holder construction reliably eliminate any light leakage from the sides—perfect for clean long exposures.
Can the CPL be installed later?
Yes, the CPL filter can be magnetically inserted or removed at any time. The side dial allows for convenient and precise polarization control, even with rectangular filters installed.
Is the LC‑PRO 100 filter system compatible with filters from other manufacturers?
Yes. The LC‑PRO 100 filter system is deliberately designed as an open 100mm system. It is fully compatible with all common 100mm rectangular filters from other manufacturers—including 100x100mm ND filters, 100x150mm GND filters, and corresponding 100mm slim filters. This allows you to easily continue using existing filters from other brands and flexibly expand your setup.
What accessories are needed?
Depending on the application, we recommend:
- Starter set with holder, CPL and basic accessories
- Soft GND , Hard GND , Reverse GND or Center GND
-
Adapter rings for different lens diameters
How do I maintain the system?
Cleaning is easy with a microfiber cloth or leather. Gently wiping is recommended after outdoor use. Overall, maintenance is very low.
Is the LC‑PRO 100 worth it compared to round filter systems?
Those who want to combine multiple filters or use precise graduated filters will benefit enormously from the LC‑PRO 100. It offers maximum control, precise positioning, and professional quality. Those who only use a single ND or CPL filter can also work with a magnetic circular filter system . However, for demanding landscape photography, the LC‑PRO 100 is the best choice.
Does the system fit all cameras?
Yes, using adapter rings, the system fits all common lenses with filter threads from 82mm upwards. With one-step adapters, it can easily be reduced to 77mm, 72mm, 67mm, or 62mm. It is suitable for full-frame, APS-C, and MFT cameras.
How robust is the LC‑PRO 100 for outdoor use?
The system is made of high-quality CNC-machined aluminum. The filters feature nano- and AR-coatings, are water- and dirt-repellent, and extremely robust – ideal for use in challenging conditions, while traveling, at the seaside, in the sand, or in wind and weather.
